It recently came to my attention that the current "main" storyline for Teenage Robot Saga has come to a halt due to its main writer quitting the forums.
Personally, I believe that a new main writer should be chosen and the storyline, completely remade from scratch.
Characters would be kept (although with according edits if needed) but the actual timeline and events would be reset to allow to begin anew.
Myself, I decided to try my hand at it. Here is my suggested plotline:
____________________________________________________
After the final battle between XJ-9 "Jenny Wakeman" and Dr.Locust, it seemed like peace would finally come to planet Earth. After all, all of the super villains that XJ-9 had fought through the years had been defeated, the Cluster now being an ally of Earth thanks to its new ruler, Vega.
... but unfortunately, peace never seem to last for long on Earth.
About five years after what should have been the final battle, the people of Cluster Prime received a distress call from Earth. It was panicked, fragmented, and obviously done in a hurry. All attempts to contact Earth were a failure, making Vega worried about what might have happened.
When the Cluster ships arrived in the solar system, the Earth was unrecognizable. The planet had been struck with more than two thousands nuclear weapons all over its surface, dramatically altering it and vaporizing more than 75% of the human population.
It seemed that after the "final battle", Vexus had not truly given up on getting her revenge on XJ-9. It was then that Vexus decided to go to extreme lengths and spreaded the original blueprints of XJ-9 which Sheldon had given her years ago, teaching to every noteworthy human organization how to build XJ-9 units. This fact, added to the discovery of outlying "treasure worlds" near the solar system led to XJ-9 units becoming viable for mass-production. Humanity quickly proceeded with this.
For five years, humans produced thousands of XJ Type units. Cheap and pratical thanks to the treasure worlds' ressources, the now widespread use of XJ Type units caused wars to become more frequent and far more brutal. Soon, the world became blanketted in eternal conflict, the original XJ-9 powerless to stop the world crisis.
Then, on the day only known as "Judgement Day", the control systems that had kept the large stock of human-made nuclear weapons went awry, as if possessed by something or someone. The world was struck by a hurricane of nuclear strikes and in the planetary chaos, the original XJ-9 disappeared...
Fast-foward to the present, 100 years later...
The world has begun to recover, large parts of the world cleaned up. The human civilization has also begun to recover their numbers... but not everything is good and well in the future.
Humans have not yet learnt their lesson. XJ Type units have been improved through the years to terrifying levels and are still as widespread as before. War is permanent, XJ units deployed in large quantities both to fight outsiders and against each others in petty conflicts.
Then, there are the Irregulars, robots that have gone rogue and now wander the wastelands, seeking for biological and non-rogue robotic units to process in a lethal way.
The Cluster, on orders of Queen Vega, continue to monitor the planet's restoration... but unfortunately are caught in the war and are facing a dilemna...
... for there is a fourth side. One the three others fear.
No one knows what created the "Legion Body" and if it's alien or from this world but what is known is that it appeared at the eve of Judgement Day and has, since then, terrorized the world. It continue to annihilate everything on its path, spreading like locusts and assimiliating anything and everything that gets into its way. Adapting at a terrifying pace via assimilation of new elements, XJ Type units are powerless to stop it, the Legion Body having developed an aura of computer viruses that corrupt them if they dare opposing it.
Humanity will never be able to properly restore their civilization if the Irregulars and Legion Body continue to harass them... and the Cluster are now in a dilemna. Humans are their friends technically and Vega wishes to protect the Earth in XJ-9's name... but if the Legion Body is not stopped, the Cluster may have to bomb Earth from orbit and destroy it entirely to prevent it from spreading further.
All in all, things are looking pretty bad... but not everything is lost.
Ancient automatons and new state-of-the-art robots alike are created, machines that may resist Legion Body's forces. Brave humans and daring creatures from outter space and dimensions also rise to the challenge of this world. And a certain someone, somewhere, might be still alive...
Those brave characters will be controlled by you, the players.
This is a world torn apart by decades of war, destruction, and despair. You will have the opportunity to make a difference.
Will you save the Earth?... or will you doom it?
It's up to you.

Notes compared to the last version of the main timeline:
A new change here is in the addition of "sides" and a new enemy apart from the Irregulars (the hive mind "Legion Body").
Each side has its own quirks and points. If you have watched the entire canon serie, you may be able to guess many of these.
For example, humanity continues to use XJ Type units and keep a Skyway Patrol-esque organization as their main military force.
The Cluster has smoother organization and better technology overall but their Drone units are noticeably weaker than the humans' XJ Types.
Most character profiles will only have to be edited slightly (namely, adding (or not) an affiliation with any side and maybe taking into account the timeline reset when writing backgrounds).
That's pretty much the whole thing.
Your thoughts on it all? Sounds good?
I'd like to know your opinion on this as a whole. If you think another storyline should be used instead, I'd like it if you could elaborate. Likewise, if you think we should stick to the current one, I'd like to know why and why you think the current one is not proper/fitting.
Waitin' for your comments!
