Gene Wright was an average grad student, working towards a doctorate in biotechnology on the West Coast. Alas, his career was cut tragically short after a disaster known only as "the Metroid incident." With a master's degree in his hand and a dream in his heart, he set out to find a new university in which to continue his research -- preferably one that didn't do background checks.
Now, Gene's travels have taken him to Tremorton, where he hopes to study the local robots for inspiration. Perhaps by examining artificial life, he'll gain insight into the machinery of natural life. Perhaps he'll enter the oft-neglected field of organic robotics (androids). Or perhaps he'll end up working with carbon-based nanotechnology. Who can say what the future holds?
