The EDF´s first attempt to create a metal armor was codenamed "Unicorn".This codename totally fits,because instead of the V-fin which would become a trademark of future metal armors,this one had a long horn on its forehead.It also has a small camera located under this horn,which would transmit every image from the camera direct onto the armors HUD in the helmet.The camera also features various helpful options, like a zoom, friend or foe identification and thermographic camera.
Some features were taken out for the future armors, simply because of the costs.
An armors camera is most likely surrounded by the same robust material the armor itself is made of, while the cameras front is protected by thin bulletproof glass.The same bulletproof glass is used for the "eyes" in the armor helmet.Instead of beeing able to look through these eyes,they had another two small cameras built-in.These two cameras were aligned to the left for the left eye and the right for the right eye.This system should allow the person inside to see his sourroundings on the HUD.By combining all three images from the cameras, the armors user has the feeling that he can actually see trough the armors eyes, which was not the case.
The helmets built-in HUD, while connected to the armors CPU, shows the person inside other helpful information.Remaining energy, thruster output, speed and status of the armor itself for example.
Every armor who should follow featured a camera on its forehead (mostly located on top of its head or directly above the V-fin) as well as a HUD inside the helmet.
The Unicorn armor also features an unique and incredibly complex artifical intelligence that goes by the name ALICE.

Equipment,is more than the standard learning computer featured in other armors.It has the capability to think and to grow.
This armor also has an experimental high speed movement system installed, which later would be known as the Wings of Light.
Appearantly no one has ever seen the Unicorn armor on the battlefield.Theres a rumor going around that every person who used the armor lost his mind and gone berserk, attacking allies as well as enemy forces.

The Pheonix armor was originally designed as support unit.Using a newly developed beam sniper rifle it was the ideal unit to aid allied units with covering fire from a position outside the battlefield.
The beam from said sniper rifle was strong enough to cut several enemys at once.However,the EDF soon scrapped the idea of equipping future armors with such a weapon,since it would consume all of the armors energy with only a few shots.So, a new weapon for this unit was developed.A beam rifle, not strong enough to destroy several enemys with one shot,but also not as energy consuming as the sniper rifle.
Should the armors user ever been forced into close combat,he could use two beam sabers,which are stored in the armors forearm.If needed the sabers can be "ejected" out of these recharge racks.
Instead of the ALICE system from metal armor 01, the Pheonix armor features an simple learning computer, which is capable of moving the small hydraulics under the armor plates on its own,if necessary.If provided with enough data for the current situtation, the computer helps the armors user with, like said before, moving the armors hydraulics and thrusters to evade dangerous situations or attacking the target.But no matter how much data the computer collects, the main work still has to be done by the person inside the armor.
This unit was also the first to have the Wings of Light system built in from the beginning.The Wings of Light were an attempt to boost the armor users speed and reflexes once more.During this high speed movement, the wings of light scatter particles to create afterimages of the armor in the surrounding area.Like most weapon systems designed for an armor,the Wings of Light consume the energy from the battery at an insane rate.Therefore an limit system was installed,which would automatically shut down the Wings of Light after a few minutes.This system also protects the person inside the armor,who could suffer massive mental damage,since the users brain also had to work at an dangerously high speed.

The Dragon armor was designed as high speed assault unit, which could break into enemy territory with minimal support.The Dragon armor featured weaponry for any situation.An beam sword,primary for the use against armored targets,such as tanks.It also features a long range beam cannon,whichs beam resembles armor 02´s experimental sniper rifle.This beam cannon, however,is way less powerful and had a more limited range.Still, it remains a devastating weapon.Especially against unarmored targets.With one beam generator built in every palm,the Dragon armor could also survive in close combat without relying on the beam sword,which was seen as to big and slow for a fight against quick targets.All of the Dragons weapons are directly connected to the armors battery,while the beam sword also features a built-in battery,which can optionally be charged when the sword is stored in the weapon holder on the armors back.
Like metal armor 02, the Dragon armor features a learning computer, which helps the user in many situations, if enough information has been collected.

The MA-X01-S was the first metal armor to be constructed for an evolved human.Therefore it would be impossible for an ordinary human to control this armor.The MA-X01-S, or "Superior armor" features a new weapon system,the MCW system (Mind controlled weapon system) ,which is operated only by the users thoughts.In Case of the superior armor, this would be a pair of disks, stored in the armor backpack.They are connected to the armor via small,nearly invisible wires, who are able to send commands directly to the disks.
Both disks have small thrusters built-in.The thrusters make it possible for the disks to change position quickly, as well as to hover at a specific location.They also have simple beam weaponry built-in, compareable to a beam rifle.They are able to shoot several strong beams at one or more targets, before they need to return to the armor to recharge their energy.How those MCW´s work, which position they took or which target they attacked, is purely up to the armor´s user.
Another strong weapon the MA-X01-S is equipped with, is the beam machine gun.While as strong as an beam rifle, this weapon is also able to shoot at a rapid fire rate.Ordinary beam rifles, like the one the Pheonix armor used, have a cool down time after each shoot fired.The beam machine gun is powered by energy packs.The energy packs cn be recharged by the armors intern energy source while they are stored in the recharge racks located on the armors hips.
The MA-X01-S is also equipped with a pair of beam sabers,should it ever be forced into close combat.The beam sabers are stored in recharge racks in the armors forearms.If needed, a small hatch opens, ejecting the saber out of the forearm.

While armor 02 and armor 03 were creating havoc for the EDF´s enemys everywhere on
earth, the plans for a mass produced armor were already made.After proving that the Metal Armors are strong enough to keep up with most enemys, the production began.By the time Ash leaves to find Amy and with her the Metal Armor 02, a few dozen models were as good as finished.
Even though the mass produced armors can not keep up with the original Metal Armors, they still boost the users strength and speed to an inhuman level.The biggest handicap of those models is the material they are made of.Instead of the Material the Metal Armors are made of, the mass produced models, called "Schneider", are made of various lightweight metals.The lightwight metals may be able to withstand ordinary calibers, but they are not able to stop explosive projectiles.Not to mention armor piercing ammunition...
With no special weapons, except a beam saber for close combat, those models have to rely on ordinary projectile weapons, such as machine guns or rifles.
Some of the EDF´s veterans got the permission to customize an armor according to their wishes.
May it be only a custom colorsheme or other additional equipment.Most of these veterans also got a shield, for better protection against projectile weapons.
