Episode 6- Limits of Power

[Jessie Winkler]

Jackie lands on one of the couches.
"Jacks, please save that energy for the next battle."
"Fine, fine..." the black haired girl mumbles, crossing her arms.

[Machaeus]

Machaeus sits down once he lets up his barrier. "Now that we're all here, we must know how Jackie here became human." Urufu explains the tale as best he knows. "Well, I suppose it's only fair that we share what our weak points are in case we need defense. I'm willing to start.
"15/16 of my blood is human, so that means I'm relatively weak to anything an ordinary mortal is weak to - poison, vital shots, you name it. My Black Aura is impenetrable except by gas and light magic, but energy is actually absorbed - lasers, for example. My spells, as you know by now, draw upon personal reserves of energy. If I draw upon too much of this energy, I become more fiend-like - not referring to the slang, mind you, but the term for demons, devils, and the like. I think that if I were to die from using too much of my mana, I would reincarnate as an actual demon, but I have, obviously, not tested this theory." His gaze turns to Urufu.
"Uh, well, I'm a werewolf, as you know. But the legends have it wrong. See, werewolves are not invulnerable to non-silver weaponry and attacks - just very resistant, and we regenerate. Silver bypasses that damage resistance, and prolonged exposure will actually reverse regeneration. This only happens in my wolf form, though - as a human I can touch silver without ill effect, but am harmed equally as well by anything. I also happen to have great strength for a human, as well as speed, and can slowly regenerate in human form. Finally, I have a nose akin to a dog's or wolf's - I can smell different people's personal scents, tell what they had for breakfast, and even detect emotions and states of mind through pheromones and other scents that they give off during these periods of emotion or whatever. It's helped me detect several lies." He turns his gaze to the middle of the room. "Anyone else?"

[Jessie Winkler]

"Uh, me I guess. I'll speak for Jackie on this one too.
I was born as your average, everyday person in Sweet City. Then me and my family, including my sister Jane, moved to Tremorton. I can't recall the entire story, but Jane and I were both given these things called 'robonizers'. See, when I press this purple button here, I transform into a robot." Jessie shows hers to the group. It looks somewhat like a PDA.

"Our strength, defense, agility, yada yada yada, are all enchanced slightly. When Jackie and I are robots, water is probaly one of our biggest weaknesses. Even as a human, I try to stay away from water. Well, except for drinking, of course. I'm not too good when it comes to mind control either."

"Hmm... my weaknesses would probaly have to be poison, nuclear gas, that kind of stuff. In both forms," Jackie adds. "Also, I try not to put everything in defeating a villian, because the more robot energy I use, the more of my human energy gets drained. Jess figured that out a couple of months ago."

"My sister was killed during a battle," Jessie whispered, looking at the floor. "She was shocked during mid-transformation, and was badly hurt while she was protecting me. That's why we're sometimes at the end of the pack when it comes to going where the villans are."

[Machaeus]

"Your loss is noted, but your sister sounded like an upstanding young lady," Machaeus replies. "I'm sure she's watching over you as we speak - friends tend to do that if they die before their time."
"They're allowed to watch their friends and family?" Urufu asks.
"It's a special permission that noble or heroic people are granted, and taking that kind of damage to save a sibling? That's plenty heroic in these dark times."

[Jessie Winkler]

"Thanks, that's good to know," Jessie replies, smiling. "That's why Jackie has a robonizer, and why she looks like Jane in robot form. She reprogrammed Jane's robonizer so she could use it."

"Yeah, I'm pretty smart. I'd be what you call a 'teacher's pet' when it comes to the grading scale," Jackie adds with a shrug.

[Machaeus]

Machaeus snaps his fingers. "Forgot something. A person's mana capacity is like a muscle - if you use it, it improves. If you don't, it atrophies. If you use too much mana - 'pull it', as it were - it still improves, but that improved total is halved for the next day. As I have pulled my mana muscle, it's going to be a more difficult fight for me if I have to fight within the next 24 hours. It's called a 'magician's hernia'."

[Jessie Winkler]

"Good to know. Hopefully if any irregs come, we can fight them off until you're ready to go," adds Jessie. "Just lay off of the 'Red Line Overloads' for a while, okay?"

[Machaeus]

Machaeus chuckles. "Yeah, yeah," he smirks.

[Jessie Winkler]

"Okay, now that we've got that settled, who next?" Jessie asks.

[Machaeus]

Urufu turns his gaze to Ruri and Champ. "I think it's these two, or Lightning."

[arbiterchamp]

"What, are we sharing our weaknesses?" Ruri asks. "If that's the case, if you haven't noticed..."
She pauses, she seems to have something caught in her throat, a second later she coughs blood into her hands.
"Yeah, every so often that happens." She finishes.

[Machaeus]

Urufu raises an eyebrow. "That Flaw probably gives you 100 extra character points," he geeks. (Yes, I used it as a verb. What would you call it?)

[arbiterchamp]

"No. It just takes away from my battle abilities." Ruri says.

[Machaeus]

"It's an RPG joke, dude," he scowls.

[Jessie Winkler]

"Okay, what about you, Champ?" Jessie adds.
