The former white parts of his armor are now covered in a disgusting green shade.

Kei ducks under a low pipe.
"There's about 800km of sewerage pipes on New Eden large enough for us to walk through. It'd take ages to figure out which way we went, and by that time our trail would have gone cold." she gave an angry glance at Urufu.
"And it would've been a d**n sight colder is someone hadn't have cut a hole in the fracking door!"

"Umm, not wantin' to be a bother or nutin'," pipes up Gordon, "and I realise that I have very little choice in the matter, but why are we following you around? I mean, I don't want to sound ungratefull but you obviously 'ave some link with the bloke were after and you just very nearly got yourself executed by a 9ft tall bugger with his own personal army. As bad as things were before, and really they weren't all that bad, what once seemed to be a simple task of followin' some breadcrumbs has in the space of 10 minutes turned into a bad day in Bosnia! Now I think that we're intitiled to some feckin' answers!"
This outburst stunned everyone, even the little AI himself, whose camera looked away in embarrasment.
"Sorry. After 10 years on me own I'm used to sayin' me mind."

While he says that,he looks at Kei.
Would have saved us time and trouble.",Ash says as calmly as possible.
A few hours ago he thought finding Xacio would be an easy task.
"Next time someone tells me I need to travel into space,I´ll just turn around and walk away...Really."

"Ok, here's the deal. I'll take you to the one guy anywhere in the universe who knows something useful about Xacio. Then, I'm going to help you find out where he has gone. But I want something in return."

The Khrohali looked at them with eyes tinged with as much sadness as ther was anger.
"Take me with you. To Earth. The way I'm gettin paid even if I work 36 hours a day I'll still be in debt. I'm wanted by gangs from one end of New Eden to the other. Everyone I've ever cared about is dead or..." she turned away, her pride was too strong to show any weakness others.
"There's nothing left for me here. Just, please, let me come with you."

Ash crosses his arms and sighs.

He suddenly stops.He wanted to slam his head against the wall.
"Crap.The merc´s are probably already waiting for us to show up at the spaceship.What should we do now?"

Kei waves them forward.
"C'mon, just a few hundred more meters and we'll be at the doc's."
"Doc? Doctor who?" says Gordon.
"You'll see."
"Does he 'ave any Daleks?"
"What's a 'Dalek'?"
Meanwhile, back at Deathwatch HQ
A very wet, very cold and very, very angry Ulrask paces up and down his chamber surveying the damage done by his own forces, who had all gone into one corner to avoid their bosses' wrath. The Denoberian slammed a fridge-sized foot into the still closed firedoor.
"When will these blasted doors open again?!" he yelled into an intercom. The receptionist droid was on the other end of the line.
"Another few minutes I'm afraid."
"Give me the PA system, all units." the droid complied and the speakers crackled all through the base.
"This is Kommandant Kit'jhec. Due the the affront we just suffered I am ordering the suspension of all other non-essential hunts. You are all to scour every last millimeter of this station in the search for the Khrohali Keiralena Latienfa and her human companions including the EDF defector Ash. You are to tear this station apart until you find them! But bring me the she-dog alive; she's mine."
Ulrask then activates his personal comm unit on a secure frequency.
"Commander, your friend in the Armour has given us 'the slip', as you humans so eloquently put it. Secure the Dockyards, check for every arrival from Earth in the past 36 hours. Find their ship and keep them from escaping."
"Yes, Kommandant." came a male voice from the other end of the line.
"What would you have us do with them?"
"I want the Khrohali alive, do as you will with the others. I can only imagine how you EDF treat your deserters." said Ulrask with an evil grin.
"Indeed. Out." the EDF commander terminated the call, and the armoured firedoors finnaly slid open. Ulrask to a moment to further terrify his soldiers.
"What are you useless kregs waiting for?! Move out before I kick you up so far you fall into Sector North!"
Across New Eden, the mercenaries begin to mobilize.

"If only we could wipe out this EDF thing, that would save us an @$$LOAD of trouble," Urufu scowls.
"Hey, is there a recording feature in your helmet communicator, Ash?" Machaeus asks with a grin. "I'm sure a court of law would LOVE to hear that 'handicap called a conscience' crap. Heck, just drop it in Mechanus where some Inevitables could find it, or better yet, Heaven so a bunch of Angels could find it, and boom, suddenly they have extraplanar law enforcement blasting their way into basically every base they can find. Literally divine punishment!"

Kei laughed to herself at the comments.
"The way of the galaxy I suppose. Ok, we're here."
There is a ladder on the side of the pipe leading upwards to what looks to be a manhole cover. Kei grabs the rungs and begins to climb.
"This will get us almost out front of the Doc's, just let me make sure the coast is clear before we go wandering around up there." she says. Kei reaches the top and quietly pushes the metal disk of the cover across and peers out into the street above. After a moment she pulls herself up out of the pipe and calls back down to the others.
"Ok, clear. Come on up, but watch out the ladder's slippery"

Ash climbs up the ladder after Kei.He climbs out of the hole and looks down at himself.
With a quiete grumble he trys to wipe away the dirt from his armor.Little successful.
"What now?",he asks Kei.

"I'm not talking mortal law, though, I'm talking 'Law of the Cosmos' here. These guys aren't fooled easily, and once they have a target they don't let go." Urufu whimpers as he hits his butt on the ground after slipping for the seventh time on the ladder bars. He finally gives up, transforms, and uses his claws to keep himself from slipping. "Finally," he mutters. "That was starting to drive me nuts." |
